i've been answering calls for the past 2.5 hrs from 9am when i started work. my boss had decided to hire telemarketers and had placed an advert in classified.. he has to go for a meeting and left poor me to ans the calls.. at 1st it was fun.. but it's kind of irritating now as i kept repeating the same ans.. we are hiring people who are bilingual and i can sense those people (malays') disappointment when they replied they cant speak mandarin... and i sense now how impt it is for a person to know as many lang as possible.. how are you going to communicate to the wide population.. esp when i aspire to be a private banker next time.. i must reach as many people as possible.. there was once when my church fren (from acjc) who said that he felt proud for not knowing mandarin, and he can always hire translators next time... and now i am wondering will he become so pro that the co. can't live without him and have to hire a translator just for him? i really wonder..
i'm not targeting abt people who cant speak mandarin (sarah, vict u know i'm not talking abt u!) i juz have a thought that singaporeans chinese should wake up now and stop pretending they can't speak mandarin or thinking that not speaking mandarin is soo cool.. my top salesperson is a philippino but she can speak mandarin and targeting all the chinese population... and she REALLY earn alot..with the china market expanding and even the americans had started to pay attention to them...we may need to live off them in future.. do you think mal*ys who cant speak mandarin are soooo cool? seriously...
i think singaporeans are being brainwashed by the americans' movies, shows, advert and bcum wanabes.. i fell into the trap of worldliness but god had kept reminding me for not being shallow..i need to brush up on my eng too as meeting up with my girls that day had made me realised our eng are not so gd afterall, considering we are speaking all the rubbish singlish...anw when i was typing this entry.. i had to ans 6 phonecalls and scheduled them for interviews.. i'm starting to hate it
