Read my QT last night and there is a special issue on the last day of Feb and its about the holocaust.
To cut the story short, a missionary(i tink) went to Israel and met a friend. The friend is a Jew and finds it hard to believe in God. Reason being he can't accept the fact that a God will allow the Holocaust to happen. If the Jews were God's chosen people, why he let them suffer?
As quoted from the author " As the Hebrew Scriptures show, God sometimes calls people like Job, the Israelites, and His Messiah to suffer for the sake of others. Job was a good man who suffered to show the rest of us that Satan-not God-is the source of evil."
"The sages of Israel have long treasured his life as evidence that people do not suffer in proportion to their sins."
These are the key thoughts that i've pondered
1) Do you think it's fair to suffer even if you are a Godly person?
2) If God asks u to suffer for greater mankind, do you tink it's unfair and will you do it?
3) If however you think its unfair, then when Jesus dies on the cross, isn't it unfair for him too? If he doesnt want to do it, there will not be you and me now.
4) If you are one of the Jews who survived the Holocaust, will you come out blaming God for the pain and suffering and lose faith, or will you thank God that he has brought you through?
Oh ya, just a few days before, a friend mentioned that you don't really have to become a accept Jesus to go to Heaven, you can also perform good deeds.
I was very uncomfortable with this idea then and it kept bothering me. So since one can just perform good deeds, then why one accepts Jesus? why do missionaries work so hard to preach to other people, and why do Jesus die on the cross to atone for our sins? Since we can perform good deeds to atone for our sins and we don't need Jesus's blood, then Jesus' death will not be worth it.
I was doing my qt yest and I think God provided me with the answer. Romans 10:1-4
" Dear brothers and sisters, the longing of my heart and my prayer to God is for the people of Israel to be saved. I know what enthusiasm they have for God, but it is misdirected zeal. For they don't understand God's way of making people right with himself. Refusing to accept God's way, they cling to their own way of getting right with God by trying to keep the law. For Christ has already accomplished the purpose for which the law was given. As a result, all who believe in him are made right with God.
Sorry i'm not trying to argue my way coz everyone is not sure of what is God going to do on the final day. He may really accept people who are not believers. However for now, God has already mentioned that he saved because of his grace, and not because of what you've done. It just keeps bothering me and I feel that I should express it out. Sorry if i offended anyone.
